Today, after shopping for some needed medications and paint for a nursery mural, we made our way to the Kawete market. You can literally buy everything there
 (it's a little like Wall-Mart!)

The rest of our day was filled with greeting sponsor students and delivering sponsor packets. They wait so patiently as we talk with each one, take their picture and a video greeting to their sponsors.


Sometimes, a sponsor is a team member!!!!





The love of Jesus is present in everyone here. Thank you God for our partnership with this community and the Lutheran Church of Uganda!

How Can I Keep From Singing? Today, our last day to visit Kawete, actually began with a trip to the Lutheran Theological College of Uganda. As we arrived, chapel was just ending but we were blessed with the sound of the seminarians singing for us. They sang two Lutheran Hymns and one song in a local language, Lusoga. It was just beautiful. The team joined Pastor Ken in his class and answered some questions from his students. When we finally arrived in Kawete, there was a lot of time to enjoy the children. We ended our time in Kawete with a teacher meeting!  These are the hardest working teachers we know! See you again in March 2020!!!!!! We love you so much!

Day One...

Listening to "Come and Listen" by David Crowder... We arrived at our motel at 2am last night and most of us slept less than 4 hours. No worries! Today, some of us will visit Kawete for the first time and, for some, it is like coming home. There are no words to describe the pure overwhelming joy the first time one of our team members experiences the love of the CCLS-Uganda children. We are blessed to be a part of this journey. Our devotion this morning, borrowed from CCLS-St. Louis Executive Director, Matt Hoehner, focuses on "the why" versus "the what." Why are we called to be here in this place at this time?  Check back later for photos from our first day in Kawete!

What a Day! Welcome to Kawete...the children greeted us with waving of branches, singing and drumming! Their faces were welcoming JOY as we took our first steps off of the bus. After a brief tour of the compound, we were blessed with  entertainment and introductions of staff. These children capture our hearts every time we visit. It may be their eyes! We visited George and Karim's home in the village! Christine, their mother, was so thrilled to have us visit and showed us their modest compound. Karim surprised us with his entrepreneurial idea: He built a shelter for and purchased ducks to raise and sell. His goal is to earn enough money for school supplies for himself and his brother, George. Thank you God for these beautiful people and the country they love. We are overwhelmed by their compassion and generosity.
